This richly colored canvas is adapted from a tile from Iznik history. The city of Iznik was of major importance in the Macedonian, Greek, Roman, Seljuk Turk and Byzantine empires. This “city of empires” is known for its highly decorative tiles that are recognized by art enthusiasts for their flawless quality and rich colors. Iznik is located in the valley of western Anatolia in modern day Turkey, and Iznik tiles decorate mosques and palaces throughout the country. Great take along project for the beginner and more experienced stitcher alike. There are companion pieces that would look great if matted separately and framed together. Measures 8″ x 8.5″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh mono deluxe canvas. Please indicate your mesh preference in the note section at checkout just before submit order.
