This richly colored canvas is adapted from a tile from Iznik history.
The city of Iznik was of major importance in the Macedonian, Greek,
Roman, Seljuk Turk and Byzantine empires. This “city of empires” is
known for its highly decorative tiles that are recognized by art
enthusiasts for their flawless quality and rich colors. Iznik is
located in the valley of western Anatolia in modern day Turkey, and
Iznik tiles decorate mosques and palaces throughout the country. Great
take along project for the beginner and more experienced stitcher
alike. There are companion pieces that would look great if matted
separately and framed together. Measures 8″ x 8.5″ on 14 mesh mono deluxe
canvas. We are partial to wool for this piece, but are happy to select and add either wool or silk threads to help you complete.
