Needlepoint connects me to the women in my family. My grandmother, my mother and my aunt all needlepointed, as do my cousins (who are like sister to me). My cousins and I frequently text each other with photos with our most recently completed projects and with ideas for new projects. When I needlepoint, I often think of my mother (who died quite young), sometimes she and I have conversations about what I am working on, and sometimes I feel like I am channeling her. (Yes, I know that sounds very new age, which I’m not!). I am carrying on the traditions of the women in my family and that’s a wonderful feeling.
