Stubbs, through his study of anatomy, displayed an accuracy unlike any art or artist before him and this brought him plenty of attention and commissions, even before the book was published. This included the commission for Whistle Jacket from the second Marquess of Rockingham, one of the most famous paintings of all time, let alone the most famous painting of a horse.
