Description
From thelate 1700’s to early 1800’s, this Pennsylvania watercolor drawing is of two, spotted, rampant unicorns facing one another and standing on a pair of curved and tapered, tree trunk-like supports, to which they are chained to from a diamond-patterned collar around their necks. In the top corners, two small birds perch on a heart-shaped element atop an abstract pedestal-like device. A similar device appears at bottom center beneath the supports, flanked by a pair of abstract, five-petaled flowers and two peafowl-type birds, facing one another. Entire design bordered by a checkered band along top, chevron-patterned bands down sides, and lunettes or scallops across bottom. However, the image is not going to be completely straight along the edges as the original is not completely straight – you can adjust your stitching – or ask us for some suggestions when you decide to stitch this marvellous piece. Measures 11″ x 14″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. We are partial to silk for this, and will be happy to select and add appropriate silk colors – and add metallic or shimmer threads if you would like – to help complete. Please contact us if you would like us to add your choice of fibers. Available in a couple of larger sizes, as well as a rug size.
