Description

This lovely composition is a canvaswork picture of a stag n the woods with birds, flowers and insects, with crewel yarns on a natural plain-woven linen canvas.  It was worked between 1725 and 1800 in New England, and has been adapted to mono deluxe needlepoint canvas from the Winterthur Museum collection.  a canvaswork picture with crewel yarns on a natural plain-woven linen canvas.  It was worked between 1725 and 1800 in New England,  with Romanian couching, chain, satin, flat, and outline stitches, with French knot accents.  Measures 12″ x 16″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh.  Will make a gorgeous pillow or framed for a wall on its own or with coordinating patterns.  The colors are muted here due to the age of the original – the picture you see is of the original.  It can  be stitched in more vibrant palette of colors or in muted tones in either wool or silk threads.  We are happy to select and add appropriate wool or silk threads to help complete.  Please indicate your mesh preference in the notes section at checkout.  If you do not provide a preference we will send the more popular 14 count.  Please contact us if you would like for us to add your choice of fibers.  Also available in alternate larger sizes.
