Description

This sumptuous flower design was adapted from the twelve months of flowers, a set of prints displayed in the Essex Alcove at Winterthur in Delaware.  The growing fascination with flowers and gardens during the 17th and 18th centuries was reflected in Dutch and Flemish flower paintings of the time.  This image is from a set of elegant flower paintings of great botanical accuracy, by Dutch artist Pieter Casteels, published as prints by John Bowles in London 1744 – 1745. Sets of prints were fashionable in Europe and America throughout the 18th century. We are happy to select and add wool, silk or metallic threads if you wish to help complete this 11″x15.5″ mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. Available in 14, 16 or 18 mesh. Please indicate your mesh preference in the notes section at checkout. Available in alternate sizes. If you do not provide a preference, we will send the more popular 14 count. Please contact us if you would like for us to add your choice of fibers.
