Louis Wain was a famous cat lover. He was a prolific painter of cats in both the Victorian style in his earlier years and in electric colors later in his life, such as Gothic Cat whose fur patterns are formed by lines resembling Gothic decoration. His later paintings, as with Gothic Cat is one of his kaleidoscope cats that was created after he was committed to a mental asylum, yet it is not entirely clear why he was hospitalized in his early sixties. We are fascinated with the expressiveness of his cats. Gothic Cat measures 11″ x 14.5″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. We are happy to select and add all colors in silk/merino wool blend or silk threads to help complete. Please indicate your mesh preference in the note section at checkout just before submit order.
