Marie Sibille Merian (1647-1717) was a remarkable woman, passionately interested in insects and their transformations. She was a fine painter and superb naturalist, one of the first woman scientists we know of and one of the most brilliant painters of plants and insects. Her observations of insects and their relationships with plants revolutionized botany and zoology. Caterpillar is a a lovely canvas for a lumbar pillow or framed for a wall and will look good in almost any fiber. Measures 7″ x 15″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas.
