Basilius Besler (1561 – 1629) was an apothecary from Nuremberg who set a new standard for botanical images by depicting plants as exquisitely beautiful. Artichoke Thistle is a supreme example of his talent and is best rendered in silk threads, which we are happy to select and add to help complete the 14″ x 16″ mono deluxe needlepoint canvas.
