William Zorach, born in Lithuania and lived in Bath Maine in his later years. He was an American sculptor, painter, printmaker, and writer. He won the Logan Medal of the Arts in 1927.Better known as a sculptor; in both his paintings and sculpture used simplified geometric forms in his figural groups, he was able to capture the love and affection in human relationships. He frequently used his family, friends, and pets as models, drawing on his own life to portray universal human experiences. We love the magnificent colors and energy of this painting.
