Description
The original Aubusson rug was made in France sometime as early as the 1700’s and is one of the stellar needlework pieces in the Winterthur Decorative Arts collection. The canvas has a tan or beige ground; large scarlet, sunburst medallion at center framed in a rectangle with scarlet and green borders; rectangle set within a larger diamond with wide border of orange and green foliate forms on a brown ground; spandrels contain diamond-shaped and striped forms with abstract foliate designs; wide brown outer border. Measures 32″ x 36″ on 12, 14, or 16 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. We are partial to silk, but will be happy to select and add either wool or silk threads to help complete. Please contact us if you would like to add your choice of fibers to this canvas. Please indicate your mesh preference in the notes section at checkout. Available in alternate larger sizes.
Because this an antique we are replicating, the outer edge or sides may not be completely straight. You can make adjustments for that in your stitching if need be, and we are happy to provide assistance if you need.
The gray area on the bottom of this image will not be on the canvas you receive.
