Description
Adapted from a Middle Ages design (8th – 11th century) recorded in one of the few manuscripts to have survived the Carolingian period. This canvas represents a style used by weavers of that time where they would show slight changes in the level of brightness of color from left to right across the woven surface. The original textile was likely a mix of fabrics, including a coarse linen and either a gold brocaded silk or ordinary silk. We are most partial to silk threads for this canvas, with perhaps some metallic threads, but are happy to select appropriate wool or silk threads to help complete the 32″ x 48″ on 14, 16 or 18 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas.
