English Pre-Raphaelite painter and draftsman, John William Waterhouse was one of the most prolific painters of all time. His work spanned over five decades and includes some of the most stunning subjects using a wide range of technique. I am Half Sick of Shadows, said the Lady of Shalott is one of his later paintings; finished just before his death in 1917. The light, intensity of color and subject draws you in. The legend of the Lady of Shalott supposedly takes place during the
time of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The lady is
imprisoned in a small castle by a fairy who tells her that if she looks
upon Camelot a curse will come upon her, but she does not know what the
curse is. In the castle the Lady of Shalott has a mirror in which she
can see shadows of what is happening in Camelot. She enjoys weaving the
images she sees on a magical loom. Measures 19" x 24" on 14 or 18 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. We are happy to select appropriate wool or silk threads to help complete this stellar canvas. Please indicate your mesh preference in the Notes section at Checkout. Also available in a larger wall hanging size of 28" x 36". Please contact us if you would like us to add the fibers of your choice.
