Ohara Shôson (Ohara Matao) was one of the principal shin hanga designers in the late 1800's and early 1900's of flower and bird prints (kachô-e), a traditional subject for Japanese painters and printmakers. We love the delicateness and simplicity of Songbird. Measures 10" x 10" on14 mesh mono deluxe needlepoint canvas. We are partial to silk threads for this piece, but are equally happy to select appropriate wool, silk or pearle cotton threads to help complete. Available in alternate sizes and mesh. Very pretty to frame on its own or mix with other Japanese prints of the artist or period.
