Edward Hicks was a a Quaker and preacher., who transitioned into a life of painting full time. Due to the Quaker beliefs which prohibited a lavish life or having excessive quantities
of objects or material he used his canvases to convey his beliefs. He painted various separate paintings of the Peaceable Kingdom.
