All the Art That's Fit to See

If you live near or are planning a trip to any of these cities each of these exhibits are not to be missed!
 

• French and Italian paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries at the Louvre (Paris) through June 21, 2010

• The Late Work of Claude Monet at Gagosian Gallery (NYC) through June 26, 2010

• Landmark Picasso at the MET (NYC) through August 1, 2010

• Mattise: Radical Invention, 1913-1917 is co-organized by the Art Institute of Chicago (opened in March and runs through June 20) and the Museum of Modern Art, NYC,  where it will be July 18 through October 11.  Above is La Danse by Matisse, 1947

• Late Renoir will be at the Philadelphia Museum (PA) from June 17, 2010 - September 6, 2010

• Austin Museum of Art is a wonderful spot if you like twentieth-century and contemporary American art- There are some wonderful exhibits there now through the August 15,2010

We'll continue this list, however, if we have missed one in your area or you know of a "not to be missed" exhibit during the summer please share!

Through early September in San Francisco at the DeYoung Museum is a major exhibit of paintings from Paris's Musee d'Orsay. "The Birth of Impressionism" has, I think, 100 paintings, including Manet, Degas, Renoir, Whistler, and Monet.

Then starting in late September and going through January will be a second exhibit of paintings from the Musee d'Orsay, this of Post-Impressionists.

San Francisco is the only city in the world that will have both exhibits.

I'm taking my whole family and as many friends as I can round up.
