 A HUGE HEARTFELT THANK YOU

 

 

    to each and every one of you who have responded to our Why You Love Needlepoint on our blog, on our Facebook/Art Needlepoint page, on Twitter, and by email.

 We are overwhelmed and overjoyed!!!! 

Thank you for taking the time to share.

Since there were well over 500 responses it is going to take us a little bit of time to process all the envelopes and stamping of envelopes and mailing BUT we will get three skeins of silk to each of you.

If you forwarded a comment either on Twitter, Facebook, email or blog but did not send your address to us or create an account with us, we will not be able to send the skeins...so please take a minute and make an account.

 The deadline was midnight EST February 17, 2012

I love needlepoint: (1) because of the creativity involved in combining colors, textures, stitches, and imagination; (2) because of the enchantment I experience from seeing new canvases, designs, colors, and threads, and the wonder and awe I experience
when viewing a finished pieces; and (3) because of all the wonderful stitchers, shops, vendors, and suppliers - everyone is exceptionally helpful, gracious, and just plain nice in this hustle-bustle world.

I love needlepoint because it provides me the challenge that I need/want in my needlework. Sometimes I want the challenge of having to decide what threads/colors/stitches to use, and painted or drawn canvases do a great job of that. Sometimes my challenge
is just simply putting a needle in my hand and I can't or don't want to make all those decisions. That's when I pull out a counted canvas, where someone else has made all those decision for me. And third, needlepoint (like most other kinds of needlework) is
a stress reliever for me. I get crabby when I don't have enough time to do needlework on a daily basis. Plus, some of those canvases are gorgeous enough to hang on a wall unstitched (but why would I want to give up the pleasure of stitching them?). So, there
are four reasons why I love needlework. Can't wait to see what others come up with! Carol S.

I really enjoy needlepoint as a form of relaxation (except when I am ripping!!!) The different fibers can bring so much life to a piece and in the end you have created your own piece of Art.

Needlepoint is my passion and has been for many years. I also do cross stitch, knit and crochet but my first love is needlepoint. Not only does it provide creativity when working on a painted canvas, it is such a stress reliever. I find sitting for hours
pouring over stitch books to find that one special stitch and having in work in the appropriate space so rewarding. Not only do I stitch needlepoint for relaxation but gifts for family and friends all year long. Just yesterday I was teaching my 23 month old
grandson how to get the needle in and out of the canvas. He even helps me put stretcher bars together and hands me tacks one at a time. Pure joy having him take an interest in my favorite hobby. For the past several years I have taught 4 projects; bargello
Christmas ball, charted pillow, angel painted canvas and box Christmas ornament to a group of 15 local women with no needlepoint experience. Not only did they all finish their projects but many have gone on to stitch more projects on their own. Such a good
feeling to spread the world of needlepoint to others and support the LNS. I stitch needlepoint whenever and wherever I can. Awaiting delivery from my finisher of several Lee Faberge Easter eggs and a Stitch Its Easter sweater.

1 - The endless variety - I love to see what other people have done with something I did. 2 - The threads and colors I get to play with! You can feel rich even if it's "only" DMC floss. 3 - May sound silly, but I see results faster than a lot of other
needlework - so instant gratification lol!

It is productive- I have something beautiful at the end of a project. It is relaxing- almost as if I were meditating. It is creative- I love that no one else will have exactly the same piece- I get to pick fibers, colors and stitches.

I needlepoint because 1) my grandma used to do it. She taught me, and now that she's gone, it's a nice connection that I still have with her. 2) It is so relaxing! 3) I love to frame my works and hang them in my house. A great, and inexpensive, way to

I need needlepoint because it makes me feel creative without having to be artistically gifted, stitching relaxes me and keeps my ever-running brain occupaied, and because I love, love, love all the pretty things I can make.

I have no artistic talent but, when I needlepoint, I create works of art. Needlepoint fills in the time beautifully while waiting at airports or in doctors' waiting rooms. I always give needlepoint pillows if I'm not sure how much money to spend on a gift
or even if a gift is required, at all.

I'm only a newbie to embroidery and needlepoing and fabric in general, but I'm already in love and addicted and receive great joy from each new project I try. I would love to win these wonderful silk skeins. I don't know if I qualify, being a newbie and

I needlepoint because it's a fun way to relax, I love playing with colors, and it's so interesting to learn about and try needleworking techniques that have existed for so long. So those are three of my reasons--it was hard to pick!

Why do I needlepoint? Gosh, so many reasons... but, the top three... 1.) I've designed it for almost 30 years now, 2.) for me it's not just a form of play, but also a meditation, and 3.) it allows me to make the most amazing, and personal, heirlooms to
pass through the generations... just as my great-grandmother passed to me, and as I am passing to my children. It's a skill and a gift that will last long beyond my years here.

I love to do it for many reasons, but one that first pops out is that I am doing what my grandmother and her's did before. I love the history in that. I love passing the same love of needlepoint and down to my granddaughter who is 8 and seeing her stick
out her tongue just as I do. I love having one of a kind, handcrafted gifts to give and see the amazed look on their face when the realize someone cares enough to make them a gift. Three reasons just touch the ice burg as to why needle point is a part of my
life.

Needlepoint is one of my many favorite things to do. I find it relaxes me, invokes my imagination, I can clear my head of all the business of the day, develop new ideas, and enjoy the finished pieces displayed in my home or knowing someone else is lovingly

Silk is easier to use - it doesn't knot up or snag in linen. The colors are richer than cotton. Thx for sharing your silks with us. I will e-mail an address.

I began needlecraft at five years old. It was simple stitch cards, but the memory is clear. For some reason putting a needle through thread and pulling pretty colors quiets my soul. I love that you can take your needlecraft any where. Lastly needlecraft
is eminently fascinating and a wonderful creative outlet.

Three reasons I love needlepoint: 1. Coloring for grownups with the biggest box of "crayons" ever! 2. People who see my work call me an "artist." Which is cool because I am just a really good tecnician with perfectionist tendencies and excellent fine motor
manipulation skills. 3. Other stitchers are awesome. I've met some of the most fascinating people through stitching guilds, classes, etc.

I have recently been learning to needlepoint under the supervision of my mom. I love all fibercrafts, but I especially enjoy the precision of needlepoint. I also love the huge variety of different stitches. But most importantly, I love that I can sit with

I love working with combining colors and textures. It's a way to express my artistic side without getting as messy as my husband! (Who's a ceramic artist). And I can work while sitting on the floor with my babies instead of having to wait till naptime

Only "3" reasons? Wow... first: I'm facinated to see how a work of art "comes together." Second: I receive a sense of calm and peacefulness while I stitch.... Therapy! Third: The feel of floss running through my fingers to create is something that is unmatched

1- I love the creative process, but i'm terrible at painting or drawing, so i do needlecrafts (not just needlepoint, i sew and knit as well 2 - I have something to do while pumping milk for my son as well as while watching TV 3 - I'm cheap, too cheap to
buy art to put on my walls, so i hang my own needlework

I love needlepoint because it's always been a tradition in our family (I was taught different techniques by my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother!), because it's so creative(!), wonderfully relaxing, and just sooooo pretty overall :)

My great grandmother taught me how to needlepoint. Her skill made me become fond of the craft. It also made me dive into other endeavors. I enjoy knitting making jewelry and creating clothes. All because she showed me a very creative outlet!

I am a Humane Officer and I handle the Humane Investigation part of the job. I Needle point for stress relief. I find that the quite centers me and I am creating something beautiful after a nasty, ugly, hate filled day.

I do all sorts of crafts. I enjoy needlepoint because of the gorgeous creations that come from it. I like the relaxation that comes from crafts (needlepoint included). I like being able to be with friends, or watching TV, or alone when I do projects. I

I needlepoint, mostly on paper and in books, because (a) I love the contrast between the thread and text (b) I love the way it occupies my hands and (c) I am constantly amazed by the skills of many of the women (and men) who needlepoint, and know that
practice makes me betters, and I may one day reach their skill level

I like it because it is a creative enterprise that allows you to take iconic or classic prints and enmesh your own creativity with it. I love art, I love old prints, but I want to interact with it than just buy a print. Sometimes you can leave your own
mark on it, like reverse the colours or add your interpretation to it. I like that.

I have always enjoyed needle point because it is something my mom taught me. We would do needle point together sitting on the couch. I have continued to teach any child girl or boy that has been in my life how to needle point it is some thing anyone can
learn to do. Needle point lasts forever.

I love needlepoint because of the memories of my mom making items, because of the beauty of the finished piece and because of the hands being busy as you are doing needlepoint. I would use these skeins to accent dresses and dolls i make for Dress A Girl

Now that my children are older, I have been able to experiment with so many different crafts...some new, some like old friends being re-visited. One of the new "friends" is neelepoint. While I have cross-stitched and still crochet, I love the elegance
of needlepoint. I, too, feel as though I am connecting with ancestors and am passing on traditions to the next generation either by sharing my needlepoint skills with others, or by passing on gifts to friends and loved ones. Needlepoint is so relaxing, and
it makes me feel very proud of what evolved onto the fabric. Thanks for such a generous offer!

I love to needlepoint because it's so relaxing. Also, it's so beautiful, like painting on cloth. Since I can't actually paint, this lets me create beautiful things anyway. And, the things I make are fantastic to people! Often, I don't buy a pattern or
kit unless I know who I plan to stitch it for. I never keep the pieces I stitch because I love the expressions on peoples faces when they receive them!

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finish a piece, the realization of a combination of ideas, beautiful threads, and work. I love colors and textures and the freedom of thread, permanent, textured art. I love the steady progression and homeyness

I love to do mixed thread on canvas - mostly with geometric designs. I love almost all colors to use (not all at once:). Needlepoint is a bit like writing sonnets - you have the structure inherent in the canvas, but you can do almost infinite designs on
that base. :) Linda

I needlepoint because 1) it is a family tradition. My grandmother taught my mother, who taught me. 2) I love being able to create unique gifts and decor for my baby's room. 3) I love to combine the colors to create vibrant depth in any image.

My husband and I recently got into doing needle point together. I love it because it is something him and I do together The colors and textures amaze me It is always a learning experience and endless creative output

I find needlepoint very centering...it is like therapy watching the thread weaving in and out. It brings me joy to pass along the craft and tradition. Thirdly, im inspired by so many things around me...nature, other people, art...and needlepoint provides
me with an outlet of expression and creativity.

I love to relax with a project in the evening. I can take my work with me to work on while I wait (Dr office, etc) I love color and this gives me so many options

I like to needlepoint because it works my hands; being productive. The needlepoint canvas allows a creative canvas to explore stitches and feelings. The craft of needlepoint continues to paint pictures with more dimension and texture than ever before,
it is constantly evolving. I enjoy the option to do simple stitches as well as the more ornate.

I love needlepoint because it is beautiful to feel, it is individual, and it is pleasant to look at and is so rich looking. My best project was seats for my dining chairs. They are gorgeous.
