National Geographic Channel features the Asian Elephant Art and Conservation Project

We are excited to announce that one of the elephant artists the AEACP works with, Hong, will be featured in an upcoming episode of a new National Geographic channel show called, ‘Nat Geo’s Amazing’. Hong resides at the Maetamann Elephant Camp in Northern Thailand. Also making an appearance in the segment is the director of the AEACP, our very own David Ferris.

The ‘Nat Geo’s Amazing’ series showcases inspiring and provocative stories from around the world. The Elephant Art episode will be airing this Friday, July 23rd at 7:00pm EST on the National Geographic Channel. Be sure to tune-in on Friday night or set that DVR!

Wool in Bloom

Here's an Organic chair!

Making Wool Bloom in the current Aug/ Sept issue of Organic Gardening magazine highlights the extreme talents of plantswoman Joanna Reed.

The base of the seat shows garlic and onions and other activity under the soil, while the seat and back of the chair is an explosion of gorgeous flowers.

"Her skill at accurately depicting the garden's flowers and plants was just incredible, says Judy Jeroy, a certified teacher of crewelwork for EGA (Embroiders Guild of America) ...  a consummate artist, I felt.

That level of skill might be difficult for most of us to achieve, but the ability to interpret favorite plants in wool is accessible to any gardener."

Introduce someone to needlepoint - teach a neighbor, child, grandchild or friend!

When you expand our needle art community you help keep the art form alive and we'll reward you!

Call us for details on our Newbie Promotion.

Who knows - maybe there's another budding Joanna Reed waiting to unleash her stitching talent!.

Talent Creates a Lasting Gift

We wanted to share some of the details of a very special needlepoint.
The talented stitcher is the aunt of the young woman getting married.
She and her sister have designed the Chuppah (wedding canopy) that the couple will stand beneath.
In the middle of this long and beautiful Chuppah is this fabulously stitched needlepoint!

The background is rich with different textures - the colors pop and the love apparent.

A Chuppah is a canopy or covering which symbolizes the home that the couple will build together.

If the home they build together is anything like their Chuppah it will be a glorious, richly colored and happy home.
